Ballydrehid National School
"Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí"
Welcome to our school website, which I hope reflects the warm, caring learning environment which exists in Ballydrehid N.S.
Ballydrehid National School is situated in the parish of Bansha/Kilmoyer at the foothills of the Galtee Mountains on the N24, 5kms from Cahir and 9kms from Bansha. Our school is located on a large site with an abundance of space which gives children the freedom to explore and enjoy. We have a pitch, tarmacadam playground area and a vegetable garden plot. We are lucky to have Ballydrehid Wood 2.5 kms from our doorstep and explore the area on a seasonal basis for walks and trails. We pride ourselves in utilising the beautiful local environment to enhance learning in our school.
We endeavour in all we do to promote the Catholic ethos but also welcome children of other religions/non-religion and embrace the diversity they bring to our school. Our mission is the promotion of the full and harmonious development of the person; intellectual, physical, cultural, moral and spiritual including a living relationship with God and with other people. Our school motto is “Mol an óige agus tiocfaidh sí”, Praise the young and they will prosper.
Ballydrehid N.S. is a co-educational school with classes from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. It currently has 57 pupils enrolled. We have experienced a 40% growth in enrolments during the last year. As a result, our staff has grown to three Mainstream Classroom Teachers, a Special Education Teacher and shared Special Education Teachers, a Special Needs Assistant, part-time secretary and part-time caretaker.
We have recently been granted additional accommodation space from the Department of Education and Skills. The Board of Management are currently working on this project and the school community really look forward to this new development.
We take great pride here in Ballydrehid National School in providing a welcoming, caring, nurturing and safe atmosphere in our school. As Principal, I invite you to browse our website and please feel free to contact me should you require any further information.
